Can I submit my book idea to Scribble?
What we’re looking for
Scribble is a vibrant, eclectic, and thought-provoking list of picture books, which celebrates the universe of childhood. At present we publish around six titles a year. Please familiarise yourself with our publishing list before you submit.
We are looking to publish stories that encapsulate children’s experience of their worlds, both fiction and non-fiction. We welcome submissions from writers and illustrators from underrepresented communities.
Scribble Submissions Policy
Scribble accepts unsolicited and unagented manuscripts for review. We are currently only accepting picture book submissions. To help us cope with the volume of submissions we will only accept submissions during the month of June each year. Any submissions received outside these periods will unfortunately not be read.
During the submissions window, we accept manuscripts by email. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with attachments (Word or PDF) of:
• a synopsis of your work (up to 3 paragraphs);
• your manuscript; and
• a writer’s CV and/or a summary of your previous publications/awards/recognition for your work.
We are happy to accept artwork samples from illustrators year-round. Please provide your CV and 6–10 digital samples of your artwork in JPEG or PDF form (5MB size limit) to: email@example.com
We cannot consider portfolios that are sent via transferlink or website links.
Then what happens?
You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt.
We will assess all manuscripts by the end of September. We are not able to respond to unsuccessful submissions, so if you have not heard from us by this date, your submission has unfortunately not been successful.
