Praise for My Language Rights

‘My Language Rights’ celebrates the world of language. Beyond the words that are spoken, written, read, sung and signed is a world of stories, memories, ideas and understanding…Judy Thompson, an advocate of bilingual children, has written her message in words that children will understand and empathise with. Tete Garcia’s illustrations reflect the vibrancy and beauty of acknowledging and sharing languages.’

Potentially one of my favourite books this year, this is an empowering read that’s a must have in every bilingual family’s house. It celebrates our mother tongue as part of our identity and culture, reinforcing the idea that all languages should be given equal rights and that the Universal Declaration or Linguistic Rights should be approved by UNESCO or the UN.
